You know when you have this life-changing trip to Prague for a whole semester to
make a short film and tour Europe? This would imply some
"preparation" for a normal human being, but being my lazy
procrastinating self, I endured a storm of mayhem 2 days before my flight. So much for reading guide books, watching Czech films and getting a head start on the insanely difficult language...
When
someone says pack "lightly," I consider how many bags Parish Hilton would take on this trip, laugh because Paris is SO 2005, and then divide that number by 15. I packed obnoxiously: 2 large suitcases, a carry-on bag AND a backpack. My mini US pharmacy of medications
took up most of the space. I asked Paris for help with that too.
My flight itinerary:
My three flights totaled almost 12 hours and proved to be
quick, bumpy, and creepy. Starting with Lufthasan, a German airline, the flight
attendants and the pilot failed to communicate to the passengers until 20,000
feet in the air. The training video looked like it was made in ’91 with
retrograde computer animation (think Sims).
Believe it or not, the flight attendants seemed pretty
two-faced. They were nice and polite (awkwardly cheery) when speaking
to me but rolled their eyes and passed rude glances as they walked by.
Nonetheless, the food was decent and this eight-hour flight went by quickly.
This cute old lady who sat next me was probably the highlight of my flight. She
spoke no English but constantly smiled and giggled at almost everything.
Overall, my international flight(s) were reasonable and interesting. So I begin my journey in Prague!
